The Internet Archives is a great service and resource, and I salute &
support them. But there's an important virtue to systems like Bit
Torrent: They're distributed.
As was mentioned, the distributed nature is good for sharing the
server burden, but it also make for additional security.
Not having everything stored in a "centralized" server means that if
there's an outage at that server, or if it's "attacked", the material
is still safe and available.
This is an important thing not only from a technical viewpoint, but
from a political one too.
